First Contact Practitioner (MSK)

October 11, 2018

Another day, another pilot project launched.

The First Contact Practitioner (FCP) role is potentially another exciting innovation for primary care.

The FCP would work in a practice and see MSK (musculo-skeletal) related type appointments as a 'first contact' freeing up GP time.

In any given practice up to 20% of appointments are related to MSK issues (eg back/ knee pain)

The FCP would provide specialist assessment, advice and treatment ‘there and then’ and still refer onwards for diagnostic or ongoing treatment if required (as a GP would).

We are pleased to be supporting this pilot project and are looking forward to seeing the outcomes from this study.
